The "Second Language Teacher Education: Challenges and New Horizons" will take place at the following locations:

  • Lecture Hall Centre (C1) of the Campus of the University of Vienna
  • Seminar Rooms of the Department of English and American Studies, Courtyard 8, Campus of the University of Vienna
  • Seminar Rooms of the Department of Romance Studies, Courtyard 8, Campus of the University of Vienna

 

The history of the campus of the University of Vienna dates back to the 18th century, when Emperor Joseph II had the Viennese Großarmenhaus (Great Poorhouse) reconstructed as a general hospital. Even before Vienna’s General Hospital was relocated to a nearby site in the mid-90s, the city of Vienna donated the entire area to the University of Vienna in 1988.

The campus is home to sixteen institutes belonging to the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies and the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies as well as the lecture hall centre with two lecture halls, offices and numerous service facilities for students. It is a social space too: in its thirteen courtyards, students, employees and inhabitants of Vienna alike can relax in the shade of the trees, enjoy encounters with art and culture, go shopping and have a bite to eat in one of the restaurants on site.

The campus of the University of Vienna is located near the historic city centre and is easily accessible by public transport.

Meeting point: in front of ROM 1-5 or at the registration desk at 5.40 pm
